What instruments can we create to understand and communicate as well as measure ecological regeneration and growth that is resistant to extractivist dynamics? Through a roundtable session, distributed speculative crafting and storytelling we will explore the problems and possibilities for measuring growth and value in multi-species co-operatives.

The Zoöp project is a practice-based research into the design of a new kind of legal format for co-operative partnerships between humans and multi-species ecological communities. The project aims to strengthen the position of non-humans within human societies, and to engender ecological regeneration and growth that is resistant to extractivist dynamics.

This ecological regeneration and growth are to be assessed with the aid of instruments and methods collected in the Zoönomic Instrumentarium. These instruments and methods may be technical, but they may also be social or political. We aim to allow for engaging a diversity of knowledge practices and modes of qualitative assessment, as we believe tools for understanding and communicating are at least as important as tools for measuring.

The project will be open to proposals for tools through which the quality and density of ecological relations inside and among multi-species communities might be assessed throughout the festival. In an online round-table session we will discuss the proposals, together exploring the problems and possibilities of the relations implied in the Zoöp concept. We will also engage in some distributed crafting, realizing our speculations through co-creative lo-fi prototyping and collective storytelling.
